Change to Recycling Service

Arrangements for recycling are changing, and East Cambridgeshire County Council is moving to a wheely bin service for recycling (black bag collections for refuse will continue).

Services will be introduced across the district over a 10 week period. It is intended that bins will be delivered to households in the week prior to service commencement to avoid problems with overflows on first collection dates. For example Round A will receive delivery of bins the week commencing 2nd September. Their first recyclables collection will be the week commencing 9th September and their first garden & food waste collection a week later during the week commencing 16th September.

Approximately 1100 or 3% of properties will not receive bins and will retain existing services. A number of multi-occupancy properties or settlements will receive a communal storage and collection service including the provision of larger 660 or 1100 litre bins. Lists of those properties not receiving a standard 240L recyclables bin and a 240L garden & food waste bin will be made available to distribution crews in advance including details of properties currently receiving an assisted collection service.
