Eel Throwing Competition – Friday 2nd May, 11am at Ely Market Place
As a warm up to the World Eel Throwing Competition on Saturday, we are inviting teams representing shops and businesses to compete for a trophy to be awarded to the City Centre Eel Throwing Business of the Year! No training, equipment or special clothing required .. just the ability to throw an Eel (well, a stuffed sock in the shape of an Eel!)
Ely Street Musicians Muster – Saturday 3rd May
Enjoy a colourful and eclectic mix of music with busking throughout the City. Step back in time whilst listening to some tunes from the past.
Market Street Food Fayre – Saturday 3rd May
Visit the variety of market stalls and buy some street food … or take advantage of the special promotions offered.
Eel Day Parade – Saturday 3rd May
Follow the Eel Parade as it leaves Cross Green at 10:30am and processes to Jubilee Gardens where a host of entertainment and side stalls will be on display.
Join in with the ever popular World Eel Throwing Competition or Town Crier Competition.
We would love to build on our Eel Day Parade and welcome participation from shops and businesses. Find out how you can get involved.
Ely’s Food Festival – Sunday 4th to Monday 5th May
Come along to the first ever Ely Food Festival. Local producers will be represented under cover in our food marquee, alongside ‘Celebrity’ Chefts, hands-on cookery demonstrations, tastings and expert talks on eel inspired food and drinks.
This new annual event will celebrate the eels so closely connected with our City. A must for any food lover!
