Invitation To Special Constabulary Information Events

Cambridgeshire Constabulary is inviting people to attend information events to find out more about volunteering for the Special Constabulary.

The drop in events are taking place at Copse Court in Longthorpe, Peterborough and Cambridge Regional College, on Saturday, November 21, between 9.30am and 12.30pm.
Each event will have representatives from the Special Constabulary as well as recently recruited Special constables to answer questions. to visit the force recruitment pages for more information about the events.

Special Sergeant Russell Knight, who has been a Special for almost two years and recently won the Cambridge City Special of the Year Award, said: “I absolutely love being a Special. Ever since I was a small child I wanted to be a police officer. Some people enjoy football, hockey or reading as a hobby, this is my hobby.
“No two days are ever the same. The feeling I get when I get home is indescribable as I know I have made a difference. In all my different job paths I have never had a sense of achievement as I do for the constabulary.
“As a Special there is the opportunity to see the different specialist branches of the force and I personally have had attachments with the Automated Number Plate Recognition Team, Road Policing Unit and my favourite the Impact Team, all of which contributed in me gaining invaluable experience and knowledge.”
Head of Cambridgeshire Special Constabulary Victor Kerlin said: “The training and opportunities the Special Constabulary receive has come a long way and this is evident by the experiences Special Sergeant Knight has encountered.
“We are currently recruiting for our Special Constabulary so if you feel you, or somebody you know, can step up to the plate then please come along to one of our events or to visit the Special Constabulary pages on our website.”
